Intersport with 81 shops is to be changed from a voluntary chain into a capital chain.
The shareholders in Intersport Danmark A/S have accepted an offer from the capital fund Arev and the Straumur bank both from Iceland, writes Erhvervsavisen.
The Icelanders will take over the entire Intersport Danmark company but for the present only 85 percent of the shops.
A few shop owners are not ready to entrust their shops. In the agreement with the Icelanders is laid down that all shops are to be owned by the capital chain within a foreseeable future.
All shop owners will be co-owners of the new chain with an owner share of altogether 25 percent.
“The new owner structure offers Intersport more chances for growth and better competitiveness. It will also have many new possibilities for the staff’s education, career and personal and professional development,” says Anders Høiris, Chairman of the chain.
Intersport Danmark numbers 81 shops of which 11 are located in the Capital Region. Moreover, the chain includes the Sport Direct business-to-business concept.
The chain will continue under the same name and still be part of the worldwide Intersport chain with more than 5,000 shops.
